Department Summary :

Michigan Dining's Learning and Development unit provides employment and out-of-the-classroom learning and development experiences for students, professionals, and our bargained-for staff. Michigan Dining comprises eighteen on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, a line of Blue to Go foods, the Campus Bakeshop, and the Michigan Catering unit. Our 500 professional and 1,300 student employees are committed to creative, healthy, and nutritious foods, international cuisines, and sustainability throughout all dining operations.

Position Summary :

You will oversee all onboarding programs, safety training, and related departmental policies to maintain training compliance for all Dining professionals and bargained-for staff. Responsibilities

Program Management (60%)

Work with and report to the Learning & Development Director and Safety Representatives to minimize and escalate any training compliance gaps in the department for professional and bargained-for staff using our approaches to lead staff training compliance.

Collaborate with our teams to gather feedback from staff team members and use user feedback to enhance the effectiveness of compliance programs, including environmental health and safety, University policy tracking, and other required topics.

Work with Dining Sr. Lead team to determine whether professional and bargained-for staff require enhanced training or support and develop presentations and materials to support this project.

Maintain a detailed calendar of MDining training activities and host events to communicate with all staff on opportunities to participate.

Schedule training activities and classes to facilitate all professional and bargained-for staff training compliance.

Maintain records of training activities and employee progress toward training compliance.

Track employee training hours and expenses and generate reports on staff attendance at training and conferences; prepare reports for inspection or audits.

Train Support for Professional and Bargained-For Staff (40%)

Work with the Learning & Development Director to standardize an annual departmental training schedule for all professional and bargained-for staff.

Present development programs using multiple forms and formats including group discussions, lectures, simulations, and videos.

Implement training plans in collaboration with the Learning & Development Director.

Collaborate with Dining, Student Life, or external partners to ensure programs for professional and bargained-for staff include a focus on approaches to food and workplace safety, customer service, cash handling and business processes, sustainability, and diversity and inclusion.

Review all department training to ensure standards, guidelines, departmental policies are being followed and standardized approaches to training for professional and bargained-for staff.

Facilitate sessions to train other facilitators on how to lead training including facilitation best practices, methods like adult learning theory, and other tools used to facilitate training to train others.

Capability to manage multiple training projects, deadlines, and resources.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university majoring in business, instructional design, human resources, organizational development, education, or hospitality.

Experience facilitating and presenting.

At least 2 years of experience in training or instructional design roles.

Experience in content development, workforce development, and training needs analysis.

Experience designing training materials, including manuals, presentations, and e-learning courses.

Experience in assessing and evaluating training needs and the effectiveness of programs.

Comfortable using digital tools and software for creating training content (e.g., PowerPoint, domiKNOW, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline).

Familiarity with multimedia tools (video editing, graphic design software).

ServSafe certification within 6 months.

Additional Information

Working Conditions :

You will be considered a critical employee and will come to campus in the event of emergencies. You will work on campus, with some hybrid work as approved by their supervisor.

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.
