The Michigan Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) Lab, directed by Dr. Annelise Madison is searching for a lab manager/research assistant (Research Technician Senior). Projects examine the intersection of mental and physical health by using novel PNI approaches, including immune stimuli and blood draws, longitudinal approaches, and psychiatric interviews with healthy and diseased populations. This is a particularly exciting opportunity to help the new Michigan PNI Lab get off the ground by ordering and setting up lab equipment, recruiting and training new staff, volunteers, and research assistants, developing protocols and procedures, submitting to the IRB, and other administrative tasks.

This is a 12-month term-limited position with the possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is March 1st, 2025.

Responsibilities*
- (30%) Ordering and setting up lab equipment, developing wet and dry lab procedures, and eventually learning phlebotomy for research, drawing blood from participants, learning and running simple assays (e.g., ELISA).
- (20%) Analyzing and processing data, organizing data, and archiving data. Working on projects to effectively manage large amounts of data and working with IT and other labs to design efficient IT systems for the data. Note that there is also the potential for archival data analysis with existing R01 datasets, depending on fit and research interests of this new hire.
- (20%) In consultation with lab PI, developing study protocols and submitting to/corresponding with IRB.
- (15%) Hiring and training incoming research staff and students in the laboratory and be a resource throughout their employment
- (15%) Other administrative tasks

Required Qualifications*
- Graduation from a college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of research experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Prior experience in human subject research (including IRB procedures), lab management, or behavioral experiments.
- Proficiency in experimental design and data collection
- Experience in several (but not all) of the following areas: psychiatric interviewing, wet lab experience, computer programing experience (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS)
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills
