What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Field Interviewer position at University of Michigan?
Make a difference in your community! As a field interviewer, you will help scientists collect high-quality data used to inform policy and improve the world. Working efficiently in 4-6 hour blocks of time, you will set appointments, travel to a variety of neighborhoods to screen households for eligibility, and complete interviews in study participants’ homes. To thrive in this position, you must be comfortable using a laptop, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to establish trust.
There is no experience required. We will teach you everything you need to know.
You must live within one of these areas: Brooklyn, Staten Isle, Queens, Bronx, or Westchester County
Here’s what we get asked most often:
- $26.25/hour (includes $5.00/hr in differentials)
- $700 in bonuses available for those in good standing
- $2/hour differential for certified English/Spanish bilingual interviewers (bilingual not required)
- You must be available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week with a flexible/variable schedule
- You will be required to attend training in Michigan May 29 – June 8, 2024
- Paid training, both online and in-person
- Mileage reimbursement for all business miles

Excellent candidates will enjoy working with a diverse group of people and are able to conduct screening interviews on the doorstep. You will have control over your schedule, be available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week with some required evenings and weekend shifts. Interviewers will be trained to read survey questions exactly as written, follow all data collection protocols, including the collection of physical measurements and biospecimens, and record data accurately using a laptop computer.
