Job Summary
The Office of Campus Sustainability (OCS) drives institutional sustainability efforts throughout operations, research, and healthcare. This position is a part of the Energy Management (EM) team, a subset of the OCS.
The Regional Energy Manager (REM) is responsible for developing and maintaining the organization's energy conservation program. Working in collaboration with building owners, building occupants, managers, and maintenance personnel, the REM ensures that assigned buildings are meeting the needs of occupants (faculty, staff, and students) while consuming the least amount of energy for electricity, steam, natural gas, and water. The REM works with EM support staff to implement energy reduction methodologies and building system optimization. The position will report directly to the Manager of EM.
This position will support the University of Michigan Medical School and operate within the Medical School Facilities (MSF) engineering team. The MSF engineering team includes another REM, operations & maintenance engineers, and an engineering lead. The Medical School operates on two campuses : The North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) and the Medical Campus. NCRC, acquired in 2009, has 28 buildings covering 2.1 million square feet and the Medical Campus has 15 buildings covering 2.4 million square feet. Both complexes have a mix of wet bench laboratories, computation research, vivarium, classrooms, and office space. Work Schedule
The work schedule is primarily regular business hours; however, the candidate must be able to adjust their schedule for occasional after-hours, and work-related duties.
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including on-site and remote work. Candidates must live or be able to relocate to within a reasonable commuting distance from Ann Arbor.
Modes of Work
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and / or the job requirements.
