Responsibilities*
The Gifts of Art program at Michigan Medicine invites applications for the position of Therapeutic Musician (Temp) for the Bedside Music Program. This is an 8 hour a week position. Basic duties include playing appropriate music in hospital facilities and at the bedside of patients, working with medical and clinical staff to identify those patients who would benefit from a therapeutic music visit. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of appropriate repertoire styles for specific patient types, and be familiar with issues of clinical deportment, palliative care, patient monitoring equipment, as well as developmental, medical, emotional and ethical issues related to patients in hospitals.
Required Qualifications*
Minimum requirements include a certificate from Music for Healing and Transition or comparable training, and a minimum of one year experience as a Therapeutic Musician or Music Therapist in a clinical or Hospital settings. Demonstrated musical proficiency and extensive repertoire on the primary instrument required. Must be able to adapt to and perform a variety of musical styles. Must possess excellent communication skills and a desire to use their talent in service to others. Candidates must provide audio or video files that demonstrate range of repertoire. Solid computers skills needed in Microsoft Office. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are nonexempt.
Desired Qualifications*
Minimum 1 year experience as a Therapeutic Musician or Music Therapist in a hospital setting. Demonstrated range of additional music repertoire including but not limited to pop, R&B, covers,
standards, folk, world, hymns, gospel. Vocals a plus.

8 hours/week - Dayshift - Weekdays
