As an Academic Physiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our General Physiatry program. Working closely with the PM&R Medical Director and leadership team, your contributions will strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations and enhance patient care. Additionally, you will contribute to the training and mentorship of the next generation of academic medicine professionals.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive general physiatry care for a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation care, spasticity and intrathecal baclofen pump management, prehabilitation, dystonia, and other complex neurological or medical conditions.

  • Deliver inpatient consult services and participate in call coverage for the acute rehabilitation unit on a rotating basis. Provide cross-coverage for inpatient services as needed, such as for vacations.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with referring providers and departments.

  • Engage in the teaching and mentorship of trainees, including medical students, residents, fellows, visiting students, and other allied health professional, fostering their clinical and professional development

  • Contribute to scholarly activities, including research and academic initiatives, in alignment with departmental goals.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited physical medicine & rehabilitation (PM&R) residency training program.

  • Board-certified or board eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R)

  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice licensure.

  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota.

  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff.

  • Understands and places importance on patient care/service.

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

  • Education-focused and a creative problem-solver.

  • Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills.

Pay and Benefits:

This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for the clinical effort of this position is $218,458 to $329,980 commensurate with experience and qualifications. The additional salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
