Peer Support Specialist - Psychiatry - FT/PT

Job Summary:

The Peer Support Specialists will provide night-time on-call service to community emergency departments and daytime face-to-face and technology-mediated patient care in coordination with the project’s clinical team.

Education & Experience

High school diploma/GED, and a Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

A Peer Support Specialist should have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges and be in stable recovery (> 1 yr minimum) in management of those challenges. Must be ready, willing, and able to provide non-clinical, strengths-based support to others seeking their own, individualized, person-centered recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide night-time on-call crisis support
  • Provide daytime face-to-face crisis support
  • Act as liaison between the patient and the clinical staff
  • Provide outreach and educate on Medication-Assisted Treatment
  • Facilitate Peer Support Groups

Requires occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
