Division of Animal Sciences

Job Description

The Academic Advisor will be guiding students in developing and accomplishing educational plans to help with undergraduate teaching, advising, recruitment and public relations missions of the Division of Animal Sciences. Coordinating teaching duties to include managing laboratories and lectures in Biology of Animal Production, and other courses as assigned (1-2 courses per semester). Advising/providing support for undergraduate students in Animal Sciences as they work toward timely completion of their degree requirements (primary advisor to 40-50 students). Involvement in student recruitment, teaching, and experimential learning activities is also expected, including coordination of internships. Interaction with Animal Science faculty and curriculum committee and coordinate with CAFNR academic programs. The Academic Advisor will interact with the public through social media, and at events including Harvestfest, South Farm Showcase, and Scholar's Day. The Adviser will meet with prospective students to introduce them to the Division; assist in recruiting events; develop promotion materials; represent the Division at events and functions attended by prospective students. The Advisor will also work with the academic affairs committee on curricular related issues; new course proposals, and implementation, and scholarship reviews.

Shift

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday with occasional weekends

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired as necessary.

Agricultural/Animal Sciences background

Salary Range: $38,480-$71,094
