Job Description

The University of Missouri’s School of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology, chaired by Dr. Bo Lu, is expanding, and searching for a full-time Radiation Oncologist who wish to build a world-class, specialized clinical practice at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Our ideal candidates will provide the highest level of care to our patients, who come to us with the most complex cases from across our region. The applicant will have the opportunity to provide clinical radiation oncology services, as well as lead the growth of research and scholarly activities related to oncology and cancer.

About Us

Greater than 600 new patients undergo radiation therapy each year including both adult and pediatric patients. Our radiation team works with other specialized medical doctors to provide our patients with optimal cancer treatment. Every week, doctors--surgeons, oncologists, pathologists and radiologists—involved in treating a specific site of disease meet for tumor boards to discuss, review and develop the optimal treatment plan for each patient.

Opportunities to collaborate with researchers and clinician-scientists abound at the University of Missouri. Being part of the four-campus, land-grant University of Missouri System provides access to rich resources and distinctive capabilities. Strong industry partnerships with Cerner, Siemens Healthineers, Thermo-Fischer and others enables us to accelerate discovery and innovation. We also offer collaboration opportunities at Siteman Cancer Center to conduct joint projects, publications, and/or grant funding.

Looking to the future, we are making a huge investment in medical research. The NextGen Precision Health Institute is a $220 million, 265,000-square-foot research facility that is a hub where scientists and clinicians collaborate with experts in other disciplines. The facility is equipped for every step of the translational research process and houses a MAGNETOM Terra 7 Tesla (7T) MRI scanner, the first of its kind in Missouri.

The University of Missouri has unparalleled infrastructure and basic science faculty collaborators to develop the next generation of radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and therapy. With the largest University research reactor in the US (MURR) producing Iodine-131, Lutetium-177 and the new wave of beta emitting radionuclides and new infrastructure for pre-clinical and human imaging.

MD/DO, Board-Certified/Board-eligible in Radiation Oncology
