As part of this process, we are seeking two collaborative professional in the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL). The Coordinators for Fraternity and Sorority Life serve as an integral part of the FSL leadership team. These full-time professional staff position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life within the Division of Student Affairs.

Job Description

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life is seeking two dynamic, student-centered professional to serve as the Coordinators of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Each position will function as a full-time professional staff member that serves as the primary advisor for up to two governing councils. The University of Missouri Fraternity & Sorority community consists of 54 inter / national Greek letter organizations; IFC (29 chapters), MGC (3 chapters), NPHC (8 chapters), PHA (14 chapters). The approximately 6,300 fraternity and sorority community members represent 27% of the undergraduate campus population. Thirty percent of the fraternity and sorority community live in chapter houses owned and operated by individual chapter corporation boards.These positions will report directly to the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life within the Division of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for council advising as well as community-wide programming.

Essential Functions

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following :

  • Serve as the primary advisor for up to two governing councils
  • Create and implement community-wide programming that may include, but is not limited to Council retreats, officer workshops, Order of Omega, Council Officer Transition Ceremony, and Trick or Treat with the Greeks, etc.
  • Assist the office in facilitating educational programs on leadership, member development, health and well-being, and other topics
  • Assist with the develop and implementation of strategies for risk prevention and / or reduction accompanied by educational initiatives and programming. Lead and champion community participation in the Hazing Prevention Consortium. Focus areas may include, but are not limited to mental health, drugs and alcohol, physical health, hazing, and healthy fraternity and sorority chapters.
  • Assist in the coordination and support of council recruitment efforts
  • Collaborate with University departments in providing resources to the fraternity and sorority community
  • May supervise graduate or undergraduate student workers.
  • Serve on departmental and divisional committees as needed.
  • As with all positions, other duties and responsibilities are expected to enhance and maintain our departmental and Student Affairs mission.

Shift

Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m

This position will require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education student affairs, college counseling, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Previous professional experience in Fraternity and Sorority Life including leadership and / or advisory role with fraternity or sorority organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of college student development theory, theories and models of leadership development, and community building techniques.
  • Experience working with international / national fraternity and / or sorority offices.
  • Experience advising a governing council (IFC, PHA, NPHC, MGC, etc.).
  • Experience advising / working with National Pan-Hellenic Council chapters / members and / or Multicultural Greek Councils chapters / members.
  • Commitment to continued personal and professional development.
  • Anticipated Hiring Range

    Salary Range : $18.50 - $28.85 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.
