FINANCIAL PLANNING ACCOUNTING
Role Summary:
The University of Missouri Controller's office is seeking a qualified Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join the Accounting and Financial Reporting Team. This position reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting. A successful candidate will be given leadership and professional growth opportunities. This position will have exposure to the University's external auditors and the Accounting Directors at each campus. This position will also have opportunities to collaborate with Associate Controller and Controller on impactful projects.
A successful candidate for this position in the Controller's Office will:

* Understand the relationships between financial statements
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyze financial reports and transactions to ensure accuracy of financial data and adherence to accounting standards.
* Lead the development and improvement of finance related policies and procedures.
* Heavily involved in year-end close of the University consolidated financial statements and preparation of the annual financial report.
* Lead implementations of new Governmental Accounting Standards
* Lead complex financial reporting and analysis
* Mentor and review peer's financial reports and accounting
* Review or perform account reconciliations as needed
* Perform variance analysis and effectively communicate the change
* Perform finance compliance reporting evaluations
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri System.
Monday - Friday, 8-5pm
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
* Experience working for or with external audit firms.
* A bachelor's degree in accounting
* Master's Degree
* Certified Public Accountant
* Strong analytical and organizational skills
* Proficient with Microsoft products
* Experience with Tableau or Power BI and Peoplesoft
* Experience interpreting Government Accounting Standards
Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
