Job Description

The Senior Program Support Coordinator (Community Coordinator) will report to the Director of Research Activities (Operations Lead) for the Midwest Region of the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Security and Integrity Information Sharing Analysis Organizations (RSI-ISAO) program. The RSI-ISAO effort is led by the University of Washington and entitled, “The SECURE Center: Safeguarding the Entire Community in the U.S. Research Ecosystem.” The SECRE Center is responsible for the co-creation and implementation of NSPM-33 – and related – research security framework development and best practices. The Coordinator shall manage communications and engagement plans between the SECURE Midwest Center and its regional research stakeholders (i.e. academic research institutions, independent research institutes, medical centers and institutes, private companies, and Federal Government research centers and laboratories that participate in research and development).

Responsibilities

  • Engage with regional stakeholders, including those participating in regional co-design stakeholder activities, to foster ongoing, productive relationships that support SECURE Center design and development initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date information for regional contacts as part of a national contacts database, noting their level of participation as a community member and/or a stakeholder. Provide regular updates to the National Community Coordinator.
  • Professionally represent the Midwest Region while facilitating discussions and engagements with stakeholders. Address inquiries and ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Analyze community engagement data and feedback to measure the effectiveness of community involvement and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute regionally relevant content to the SECURE Center webpage and digital platforms, reflecting ongoing regional engagement activities and enhancing the center’s community presence and accessibility within the broader community.
  • Collaborate with the National Center Community Coordinator and Regional Design Leads to align stakeholder engagement strategies across regions. Support the National Co-Creation team and Regional Design Leads in the creation, administration, and sharing of materials developed for discovery, design, and testing activities.
  • Plan and execute Regional Center meetings, workshops, and other events, handling venue setup, catering, and participant communication. Coordinate with the National team to align regional events with center-wide goals and initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the National Coordinator, implement and facilitate Regional Center team-building events, workshops, and activities to strengthen collaboration and support a positive work culture.

Duties

  • Execute systematic approach to stakeholder engagement across the Midwest region, including at least, all those who are susceptible to research security vulnerabilities, directly and indirectly related to NSPM-33.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that aligns with the SECURE Center’s mission and values.
  • Prepare and contribute to progress reports of achievements, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Ensure problems are communicated quickly and transparently to Director and NSF SECURE Midwest Design & Development Lead, Associate Vice Chancellor Research Compliance and Integrity, Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in community engagement, event coordination, project management, or a related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in community engagement, public speaking, and project management.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com), CRM databases, and online communication platforms (e.g., Slack, Google Drive).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute events, meetings, and workshops, including logistics coordination and virtual platform management.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Anticipated salary range between $58,000 and $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
