Biomedical and Health Informatics, School of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC)

Job Description

This is a position in community and clinical research in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the UMKC School of Medicine. The Research Aide is responsible for collecting information from participants according to the research study protocols. They may conduct interviews, epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples from research participants in studies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, screen, and schedule potential study participants
  • Utilize approved informed consent and HIPAA procedures
  • Help maintain study procedure documentation
  • May assist with data entry, cleaning and guided analysis
  • Monitor study participants as required by study protocol
  • Maintain study records and edits for completeness and accuracy
  • Attend regular team meetings
  • Notify supervisors of any unplanned events that arise
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required with some college or Bachelor's degree with prior data collection experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work in health sciences preferred
  • Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy
  • Demonstrates basic computer skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Ability to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participants
  • Ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality of participants
  • Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings
  • May require travel for specialized training depending on study protocols
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends if called for under the study protocols
  • May require personal transportation to field location

Anticipated Hiring Range

$15 per hour

Other Information

This is a grant-funded, temporary position, part-time - 28 hours per week, not to exceed 36 weeks. Non-benefit elgible
