Job Description

Veterinarians throughout the Midwest refer animal clients to the Veterinary Health Center for specialized diagnoses and treatment. With sophisticated therapeutic equipment that includes an underwater treadmill, advanced imaging techniques, and groundbreaking equine lameness diagnostic equipment, we are a center for animal healthcare.
The Animal Care Workers of the Small Animal Hospital provide critical support service and care of the Veterinary Health Centers patients. Animal Care Workers ensure the health and safety of our patients by providing basic husbandry functions throughout the hospital.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Feeding and watering patients
- Cleaning animal pens, cages, kennels, and runs
- Performing custodial functions in hospital exam and procedure rooms
- Stocking supplies
- Transporting recyclables for weekly pick-up
- Assisting with delivery soiled laundry to central campus facility

Shift
This is a full-time, 40-hour week position. Hours are Monday through Friday from 6a to 3p.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to read and write
- No experience is necessary
- Ability and desire to handle and work with and around animals
- Good physical strength, condition and stamina sufficient to left heavy objects

- Experience handling/working around animals
- Present a friendly and empathetic demeanor
- Be able to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $15.00-$18.00 per hour
Grade: GGS-B
