Job Description

Nature of Work:
Manage University of Missouri projects through the design, bidding and award phases with a strong emphasis on civil, site development and structural repairs. The ideal candidate will leverage their deep expertise in civil engineering principles including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, traffic planning, pavement, and structural repairs, to oversee all phases of the project. Responsibilities include ensuring precise alignment with University and stakeholder objectives, optimizing land use, adhering to regulatory requirements, and delivering high-quality, sustainable outcomes that enhance campus infrastructure and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:
The candidate is tasked with establishing and managing the scope, schedule, and budgets of projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives. This involves consistent communication and updates to all project participants and university stakeholders to maintain clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Civil Site Development Oversight: Develop detailed project scopes for site development, structural restoration and infrastructure improvement projects, engaging contracted consultants (architects, civil engineers, and design professionals) to drive accurate planning and execution.

The position involves developing detailed project scope, schedules, and budgets for projects executed by contracted and/or internal consultants, including architects, engineers, and supporting design professionals. The candidate oversees the architectural and engineering development for studies, design, and construction projects and facilities, ensuring compliance with University Rules, Regulations, State Statutes, and related requirements.

Additionally, the role includes reviewing and approving plans and specifications prepared by consultants, identifying and coordinating with additional consultants as needed, and facilitating effective communication with campus and community partners and stakeholders.

The project manager manages consultants cost opinions and develops other project related costs in consideration of a total project cost, continually monitoring progress and status as the project design evolves. Active direction is provided to consultants and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

Initiating and facilitating consultant solicitation and selections, managing the design process, engaging in the bid process, and participating in construction phase activities as needed are also part of the role's responsibilities.

Further duties involve planning project delivery and phasing opportunities, identifying priorities and drivers, scheduling design efforts as well as an overall project schedule, and determining the construction delivery method. Ongoing tasks include obtaining, tracking, and managing budgets, schedules, and scope, as well as conveying project requirements to consultants and overseeing administrative processes.
