Job Description

The person in this role oversees all recruitment and admissions activities for the Honors College.

ABOUT HONORS:
The Honors College has undergone growth and expansion in the last four years. It currently includes approximately 3200 high ability undergraduate students in all majors. Incoming class sizes have ranged from around 900 to around 1050 in the last several years, with an average ACT of around 30.5.


SPECIFIC DUTIES
(including, but not limited to):

  • Give on-campus presentations to prospective students and their families in coordination with Honors Student Ambassadors.
  • Represent the Honors College at campus-level recruitment events. This work involves some travel to recruitment and yield events in November and February/March. This includes recruiting high ability students in all academic majors and recruiting applicants for Honors College scholarships.
  • Understand all honors academic programs and relevant campus programs, as well as information related to admissions and scholarships Continually work to become familiar with academic and extra-curricular opportunities offered to students in all colleges, residential life, Greek life, and student support, with special attention to opportunities tailored to the unique needs and interests of the high ability students who are considering Mizzou such as undergraduate research, Global and National Fellowships, the Kinder Institute, MedOpp advising, etc.
  • Lead and coordinate the Honors Ambassadors program, meeting regularly with student ambassadors, mentoring them through their work with prospective students, and overseeing payment of their stipends.
  • Coordinate, execute and collaborate on honors events. This includes working with Admissions on Fall events in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia developing the program of student and faculty speakers; overseeing the planning and execution Stamps interview weekend (the two-day on-campus interview process for Stamps finalists.
  • Capture honors application information, follow up with students and families as needed, and provide data to Honors College and campus stakeholders.
  • Oversee Honors admissions process for FTC, current, and transfer students, including tracking admissions data, reviewing applications, leading the faculty admissions committee, and fielding calls from prospective applicants and their families.
  • Oversee application process for all FTC Scholarships, including the Stamps Scholarship, which receives over 400 applications per year.
  • Interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including admissions staff, MU Faculty, deans and other campus leaders, parents, prospective students, high school counselors, current students, and external vendors.
  • Work with Honors communicator on preparing and vetting Honors recruitment materials sent out by campus and by Honors.
  • Work with Dean and Scholarships Coordinator on developing recruitment goals and strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift


40 hours/week, with seasonally extensive evening and weekend responsibilities, and corresponding travel.


Minimum Qualifications


A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications


The preferred applicant will have:

  • Progressive experience in student engagement.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience with project implementation and process analysis are preferred.
  • Experience in marketing, business management, and public relations are preferred.
  • Experience cannot substitute for educational requirements.

Anticipated Hiring Range


Salary Range: $54,871-$73,008 yearly

Grade: GGS-010
