Job Description
The Department of Medical Pharmacology and Physiology, University of Missouri invites applications for a Research Specialist II position as a Rodent Specialist.
Job Duties:
Managing mouse/rat colonies, including tasks such as providing special diets and water, setting up breeding pairs, weaning, and performing toe/tail clipping for genotyping.
Conducting procedures on mice/rats, such as drug injections, echocardiograms, exercise studies, blood pressure measurements, minor surgeries, euthanasia, and tissue harvesting.
Analyzing experimental results and writing result report.
Handling general lab management tasks, including ordering supplies, completing institutional and vendor paperwork, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Supervising and training graduate and undergraduate students, as well as visiting students.
Shift
Shift Type: Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm
(Clinical) Office/Administrative Hours: Yes - Position will have Office/Admin Hours
Flexibility for Alternative Schedules: No
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Training: Experience working with small rodents. Prior experience working in a research laboratory.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Hiring Range: $19.00 - $26.00
