The MU Extension Integrated Marketing Communications Team uses cutting-edge storytelling strategies to elevate the visibility and impact of MU Extension’s programs across Missouri. Through strategic branding, digital marketing, multimedia production, and media outreach, the team connects communities with the knowledge and resources Extension provides. By leveraging innovative content creation, data-driven insights, and emerging media trends, the team ensures MU Extension’s stories resonate with the people it serves, driving engagement and expanding the division’s reach.
The temporary Multimedia Storyteller position will play a vital role in shaping and executing our multimedia content strategy. The person will be responsible for producing compelling video stories that resonate with our target audience across multiple platforms, including the MU Extension website and social media channels. This role requires a creative, strategic thinker with a journalist's skillset and the ability to think like a marketer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and Produce Impact Stories – Identify and develop compelling stories that highlight MU Extension’s contributions to Missouri communities.
- Longform Video Production – Shoot and edit longform videos featuring interviews, program highlights, and on-the-ground impact.
- Written Storytelling – Craft well-researched, engaging articles that showcase the people and programs making a difference.
- Infographic Development – Design visual representations of key data points and impact metrics for digital and print use.
- Shortform Video Creation – Adapt footage into dynamic reels and short clips optimized for social media platforms.
- Motion Graphics & Animation – Create engaging motion graphics to enhance videos, infographics, and social media content.
- Collaboration & Coordination – Work with MU Extension faculty, staff, and stakeholders to gather content and ensure accurate representation.
- Brand & Style Adherence – Ensure all content aligns with MU Extension’s branding, messaging, and accessibility standards.
- As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in multimedia storytelling, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- Proficiency in video production, including filming, editing (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar), and post-production.
- Experience producing shortform content for social media (Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts).
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
- Graphic design skills with experience creating infographics (Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or similar).
- Strong writing skills with experience in feature writing, journalism, or marketing copy.
