Responsibilities
The AVP of University Foundation Advancement Development will join the leadership team of the UM Foundation’s innovative and growing Development Division. In the AVP role, you will manage and supervise a team of development professionals while developing strategy with the Vice President of Development, Associate Vice President of Development and other senior leaders. You will guide assigned staff in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies while identifying opportunities for their growth and improvement. You will also play a key role in building and maintaining partnerships with deans and other campus leaders, including education and ensuring alignment on fundraising priorities and strategies. Additionally, you will provide essential support to campus units in times of leadership or staffing transitions, including communicating with donors when needed. As a leader within the UM Foundation, you will collaborate across departments to enhance internal processes, drive efficiency, and contribute to the overall success of our fundraising efforts.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in fundraising
- Record of securing major gifts
- Understanding of nonprofits and/or higher education
- Experience leading and motivating teams
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills; an ability to work independently and in a multi-layered team environment while fostering positive relationships, teamwork, and collaboration
