General Description
The purpose of this position is to support the Banner Database Administrator in maintaining the ERP application (currently Ellucian Banner) and Oracle database and assist with related integrated components and implementations.
Essential Job Duties
1. Set up single sign-on using Ethos ID
2. Maintain and upgrade Evisions applications and MAPS server, UC4 and other software on-premise
3. Assist with ERP integrations
4. Maintain and upgrade BEP, BRIM and rabbitmq
5. Maintain, upgrade and create communication plans using Ellucian’s Communication Management tool and Action Item Processing
6. Maintain, upgrade and create university specific self-service and administrative pages using Ellucian’s Page Builder tool
7. Maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot Ellucian’s Degree Works application
8. Assist Banner DBA with testing and preparation of ERP upgrades
9. Develop and implement processes and procedures necessary to maintain the databases and the schemas used by the University of Montevallo staff in a variety of departments
10. Plan, design, and assist with the implementation of new applications and reports that allow the user community to take full advantage of Banner’s capabilities
11. Create databases and related database objects/schemas; assist with the physical and logical design of databases
12. Assist in the planning and design of database physical structures to accommodate large transaction processing and high availability
13. Work with the other IS&T and University staff to implement the logical database design in the physical environment
14. Assist in the analysis of database sizing/capacity, server requirements, and space requirements
15. Work with the Operations team to thoroughly implement and test enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including Disaster Recovery initiatives
16. Review new database programs, functions, procedures, and packages before they are loaded into the production database
17. Support data loading, conversion, and batch job operation and trouble-shoot development/production systems
18. Provide user support and deliver user & process documentation
19. Participate in Information Services & Technology initiatives, continuous improvement, and other projects as needed
20. Log calls for assistance with internal tracking software and respond promptly.

2. Strong ability to analyze data, design, document and test systems
3. Knowledge of University organization, policies and procedures
4. Knowledge of Unix and Windows NT operating systems
5. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
6. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in writing and orally
7. Ability to manage 4-5 projects simultaneously in a high stress environment
8. Ability to complete projects in an efficient and effective manner
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
10. High level of organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
11. Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field.
Education substituted for experience? No
Required: 2 years of related experience; experience with relational database design, implementation and maintenance, and SQL/PLSQL programming skills; and experience with Oracle Application Server
Desired: experience with C/C++ and Visual Basic, Apache tomcat, Red Hat Enterprise Linux
