Brief Summary of Job Description
The Learning Designer I supports UNK faculty and staff in designing and developing high-quality online courses and instructional materials. Primary responsibilities focus on collaborating with faculty to create engaging and effective online learning experiences, providing comprehensive support for the production and enhancement of digital course content, and ensuring resources meet quality and accessibility standards. Additionally, this role includes delivering training sessions and workshops to equip faculty with best practices in instructional design and the latest educational technologies, fostering a robust and innovative online learning environment at UNK.
Job Duties
- Course Design and Development
Leverage a creative, collaborative approach to the design and development of non-credit and credit bearing courses. Consult with subject matter experts on course objectives, structure, and content flow to ensure that courses and learning materials align with best practices in learning design. Directly design and integrate multimedia and interactive elements to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
- Instructional Technology Support
Provide Tier 1 support for faculty and staff using the LMS including assisting faculty in integrating effective digital tools and resources into their courses. Advise on best practices for using technology to enhance learning, support the development and implementation of multimedia and interactive content, and ensure resources meet accessibility and quality standards.
Faculty Development Support the development and delivery of faculty professional development, including both in-person and asynchronous options.

Maintain an active professional development agenda within the related to the fields of Learning Design, Multimedia Design, or Faculty Development
Required Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education, graphic or multimedia design, business, marketing, management, human computer interaction (HCI).
Required Experience:
Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle). Experience with digital content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate Storyline, or similar platforms. Experience with the design and development of digital content.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree
Preferred Experience:
Minimum of one year of professional experience in customer service, communication, multimedia design, user experience, marketing, business, higher education or similar field.
