You will join the foundation at an exciting time, with the opportunity to make a transformational impact. The foundation is in the public phase of a historic campaign to raise $3 billion to build a better future for Nebraska. The campaign is being led by many enthusiastic volunteers representing all areas of the University of Nebraska System. This paid position has an anticipated start date of May 17 and an anticipated end date of Aug. 15. We offer a flexible schedule of 25 hours per week, professional experience, learning opportunities, and a convenient work location in downtown Lincoln.
This program will provide you with the opportunity to assist our Marketing and Communications team, specifically our Director of Public Relations, through promoting and driving awareness about the Only in Nebraska campaign. You will gain exposure to research, drafting news releases, storytelling, and developing and writing content.
Ways you will make an impact:
- Craft stories of student impact to be published in the Only in Nebraska campaign e-newsletter.
- Interview appropriate university students, faculty and staff members, and interview donors about the purpose and inspiration for their gift.
- Assist with clerical duties as needed or requested.

What you need:
- Current student status as an undergraduate or graduate in the University of Nebraska System. Preferred Education: Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, or related majors with a strong emphasis in writing, editing, and storytelling.
- Experience in news writing or press release writing experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills and familiarity with AP style.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to details, and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while always keeping the needs of the donor foremost and working with little supervision.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills when working with a variety of people.
- Exposure and aptitude to learn Microsoft Office Suite.
