Essential Functions
The Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor with expertise in Cognitive Psychology. The Psychology Department offers strong degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level with outstanding faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position with an anticipated start date of August 18, 2025. The position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, and potentially includes Sensation and Perception, Cognitive Psychology, and the undergraduate Lab in Cognitive Psychology, among others, including courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to maintain a productive record of research and scholarship, and to advise and mentor students in research. While we seek someone with expertise in cognitive psychology, the specific area of expertise within cognitive psychology is open, as is the specific research focus. Other programs in the department include Developmental Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Neuroscience & Behavior, and School Psychology). There are potential avenues for collaboration with people in these different areas as well as colleagues in other departments and colleges at UNO, and with researchers In the greater Omaha metropolitan area (at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Boys Town National Research Hospital, for example).
