As a Utility Operator, you will:
- Operate high-pressure boilers, steam turbines, centrifugal chillers, and auxiliary equipment at university central heating and cooling plants.
- Ensure safe operation of utility plant equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Perform and/or assist in performing preventative maintenance.
- Complete light maintenance duties such as adjusting, cleaning, and painting.
- Repair utility plant equipment and facilities.
What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and execute verbal, electronic, and written instructions.
- Ability to read and understand operating manuals.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures and use windows-based software for word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, and email.
- Ability to obtain the appropriate National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE), National Association of Power Engineers (NAPE).
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

This position must be available by phone to address work-related issues and may be required to perform work in addition to and outside of the normal scheduled shift.
