Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Administrative Assistant 3, Lee Business School [R0146380].
ROLE of the POSITION
This position serves as an Administrative Assistant (AA) of the Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology Department in the Lee Business School. The department consists of 26 full-time faculty, including 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty, spanning the disciplines of IS, Management, and Entrepreneurship; this AA position will support management and entrepreneurship faculty, students, and programming.
Employee provides clerical and administrative support to the Department Chair, Graduate Programs Coordinators/Directors, and faculty, staff, and students. The AA is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional environment in the Department and for executing a variety of clerical, administrative, and operational tasks with precision, accuracy, and timeliness. The AA serves as a point of contact and reference for visitors to the Department, including students, vendors, college and university representatives, and members of the community.
Employee ensures that all business processes follow the University and College policies accurately and appropriately. Employee also assists the Department Chair in supervising the work of graduate student assistants and student workers. Employee continually works to identify problems or issues with administrative processes or requests, and presents alternatives and creative solutions to the Chair. In this role, a high level of initiative and judgment are required to determine the priority of assignments to accomplish administrative objectives within established schedules and timelines, as well as to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations, and interprets guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents, and practices, which are not always completely applicable to changing situations. Further, in this position, the incumbent makes independent choices, determinations, interpretations, and judgments in their departmental and supervising duties. The incumbent is responsible for effectively implementing time management when prioritizing duties from multiple professionals and departments at one time. The incumbent assumes responsibility of making various departmental choices, determinations and judgments when supervising graduate and faculty assistants.
This position is considered essential and not eligible for a Flexible Work Schedule (FWS).
PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT and COLLEGE
This position will be housed in the Management, Entrepreneurship & Technology Department within the AACSB-accredited Lee Business School. The department consists of 26 full-time faculty, including 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty, spanning the disciplines of IS, Management, and Entrepreneurship Lee Business School is among the top 2 percent of business colleges and schools worldwide to hold international dual accreditation in business and accounting by AACSB International.
As one of the largest schools at UNLV with approximately 4,500 undergraduate students, 500 graduate students, more than 140 faculty and staff, and 25,500 alumni, Lee Business School offers 10 undergraduate majors, 12 minors, and seven graduate degree programs. The MBA program has ranked in the top 100 part-time MBA programs for the past five years according to U.S. News and World Report.
In addition to its scholastic endeavors, Lee Business School is home to four centers that connect faculty and students with business and industry: Troesh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER), Lied Center for Real Estate, and Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

SALARY
Grade 27, Step 1, salary $46,207.44. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
