Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Physician Assistant Studies Program is seeking a motivated individual to support the curricular and operations functions of the program as an Administrative Assistant 3. This position is located at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Redfield Campus. ***This position does not offer layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The Administrative Assistant 3 will support the curricular aspect of the program with a focus on the didactic phase, including creating courses in Canvas, room scheduling, instructor correspondence and collection of lecture materials, clerical duties, records maintenance, committee staffing and summaries, exam proctoring and classroom set-up, and will use multiple electronic systems including Qualtrics for collecting evaluations.
This role provides essential support to the Operations Manager in overseeing day-to-day program operations, including managing purchase orders, reconciling purchasing cards, coordinating travel logistics and claims processing, ordering office supplies, and maintaining the supply room, along with other operational responsibilities as needed. This position functions as the receptionist for the program and greets in-person visitors and students. The successful candidate will possess excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills, be able to work independently within an established supervisory model, navigate and meet competing deadlines and multiple sources of direction, maintain confidentiality of program and student information, and engage with colleagues as a member of an integrated program team. This position is student- and public-facing, is based in the office full-time.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
- One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
