The Coordinator of Student Engagement plays a key role in supporting the Office of Student Engagement by advising, guiding, and engaging students in creating a dynamic and educational out-of-class experience. This position involves overseeing and advising more than 90 student clubs and organizations, ensuring their activities and programs run smoothly. The Coordinator will also contribute to the development and implementation of department-sponsored initiatives, including New Student Orientation and leadership development programs. This is a 12-month, live-on position.

Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Development, Counseling, or a related field with one to three years of relevant professional or graduate internship experience in a college setting, or a combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities
Activities Programming & Student Organizations
- Oversee all undergraduate student clubs and organizations, including the registration process, policy dissemination, training, policy and procedural reviews, and event advisement. Provide guidance on contracts for talent and services.
- Advise student organization councils on council development, budget creation, and program planning.
- Manage the daily operations of the student engagement platform and the university event ticketing system.
- Serve as an advisor to the Activities Programming Board, providing support in organizational development, program planning, budgeting, event management, and policy interpretation.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of key annual events.
- Select, supervise, and train Student Organization Managers.
- Coordinate and assist with weekend programming.
- Support major departmental and institutional programs, including but not limited to Orientation, Homecoming Weekend, and Accepted Students Days.
- Advise various student committees as assigned.
- Coordinate all aspects of Summer, Fall, and Transfer Orientations, and plan and facilitate all experiential programming for these events.
- Support the development of the Trailblazer program to ensure a seamless connection with traditional Orientation programming.
- Assist with the training and supervision of Orientation student staff.
- Regularly confer with the immediate supervisor, Student Affairs staff, and other university personnel to plan, coordinate, and evaluate programs, activities, and policies. Exchange information, resolve issues, and refer students as necessary.
- Participate in on-call duty rotations with Student Engagement and Campus Center Facility and Recreation staff, responding to emergencies as per protocol.
- Provide direction to student staff and oversee facility operations, particularly during programs and events.
- Commit to fostering a culture of welcoming and belonging across all activities and programs.

- Previous professional experience in student involvement, student organizations, and/or student leadership development.
- Proven administrative, supervisory, and advisement skills.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students in roles such as mentor, supervisor, and advisor.
- Ability to build productive partnerships and communicate effectively with staff, faculty, parents, and community members to enhance the student experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of technology tools related to student affairs, event promotion, social media, and proficiency in operating audio/visual equipment.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to provide a positive, friendly, and professional experience for students and others.
- This is a 12-month, live-on position, and the candidate must be able to reside on campus throughout the duration of employment.
- Must be able to participate in an on-call duty rotation and work nights and weekends as needed.
