The Student Outreach Coordinator (SOC) is a key member of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), working across multiple colleges and units to provide responsive support to students facing a range of academic and interpersonal challenges. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Resolutions, the SOC serves as a central point of contact for undergraduate students and their families, delivering exceptional service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of student contact and provide non-clinical case management.
  • Triaging referrals and reported information regarding student needs to appropriate services as required.
  • Document all meetings in Advocate, CRM Advise, and other relevant UNE systems.
  • Serve as the CRM Advise case manager for the Division of Student Affairs, overseeing and managing student cases in CRM, including tracking issues, meeting with and reassigning referred students, documenting interactions and referrals, closing communication loops, and collaborating with various UNE stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Work as part of the CARE team to manage difficult student cases.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Interventions and Student Success to coordinate support from Student Affairs offices and monitor and track students identified through ICSS interventions and outreach.
  • Collaborate with other departments across UNE, including the Academic and Career Advising Center, Student Access Center, Housing and Residential/Commuter Life, etc., to expedite the resolution of student issues and develop strategies to address issues and provide solutions.
  • Assist in the training and oversight of the student mediator team.
  • Work with the Student Affairs Communications Committee to promote appropriate and consistent messaging across multiple formats and platforms.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and respond to data requests as needed.
  • Assist in training faculty, staff, students, and parents/guardians on the Division of Student Affairs referral process and the procedures of its various units.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of programming sponsored by the VPSA/Dean of Students, including but not limited to: Orientation, Homecoming Weekend, Senior Week, and Commencement.
  • Assist with outreach and education efforts with appropriate university and off-campus constituents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. This is an intermediate-level position that requires 2-4 years of experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with student tracking systems and database management.
  • Familiarity with restorative practices in an educational setting.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply relevant laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Experience interacting with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong influencing, analytical, communication, and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with broad-based experience in project coordination.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement solutions; demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Access, MS Office, relational databases, reporting functions, and Windows-based programs. Experience with PC business applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
  • Prior experience in higher education preferred.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize information from multiple sources to make informed recommendations focused on the welfare of the student.
  • Knowledge of current case management trends.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends to support student programming.
