Position Summary :

The Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems at the University of New Hampshire seeks applicants for the position of Lecturer of Culinary Nutrition, a full time (1.0 FTE, academic year nine month) teaching position. The position will be for a three-year, renewable term, with an expected starting date of Fall term, August 2025. Renewal of the position after the initial three-year period will be at the discretion of the college. An appointment for a lecturer position includes the full benefits package of the University for non-tenure-track faculty.

We seek a dynamic and versatile faculty member to grow the culinary offerings in the UNH Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems through instruction, mentorship, and curriculum development. The candidate will teach 5 to 6 courses per academic year. Instructor responsibilities include didactic and applied courses that build students knowledge and techniques in the culinary arts. The instructor will also be involved in formal academic student advising and curriculum development. Opportunities exist for further leadership and service activities at the department, college, and university levels.

The position supports undergraduate students in our Nutrition B.S. degree, our Culinary Nutrition & Food Studies minor, and our Nutrition & Dietetics M.S. degree within the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. Relevant on-campus teaching facilities include two large teaching kitchens including 14 ovens, 5 commercial refrigerators / freezers, automatic dishwashers, and food storage space, as well as the UNH Brewery.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications :

  • Professional culinary experience or advanced culinary training
  • A B.S. in nutrition, culinary arts, food science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated excellent potential in teaching and mentoring
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community groups of diverse backgrounds
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification

Additional preferred qualifications include :

  • Masters degree, other post-baccalaureate coursework or credentials in culinary arts, food science, nutrition or a related field
  • Experience teaching at the college level and in designing and offering experiential courses
  • Expertise in management, food safety, food preservation, food processing, and / or sensory evaluation
  • 2 or more years of professional culinary experience

    Department and College Description :

    The Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems (ANFS) Department (http : / / colsa.unh.edu / anfs) currently serves 450 undergraduate majors through its Animal Science, Nutrition, Agriculture and Food Systems, Applied Animal Science, and Veterinary Technology programs well as 30 graduate students and interns through a variety of departmental and College-wide programs. We are an interdisciplinary department of colleagues committed to enhancing the sustainability of the farm-to-fork-to-human wellness continuum through teaching and engaged research activities. Current faculty research areas include animal and plant production, plant breeding and applied genomics, dairy and human nutrition (http : / / colsa.unh.edu / anfs). ANFS is one of five academic units within COLSA, which includes the states Agriculture Experiment Station.
