This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including solution development, administration, governance, and user enablement within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. The position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining business solutions using SharePoint Online, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), and other M365 tools to support faculty, students, and staff across the University System of New Hampshire in alignment with our teaching, learning, research and outreach missions across the state. This role will collaborate with stakeholders to assess business needs, determine the most appropriate M365 tools for each scenario, and develop solutions that improve efficiency and collaboration.

Additionally, the role provides governance oversight, documentation, and user support while serving as a backup administrator for SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive to ensure seamless integration and functionality across platforms. A strong ability to think critically, learn new technologies, and apply best practices will be essential for success in this position.

Duties/Responsibilities

Solution Design, Development, Testing, and Deployment (30%)

  • Design and implement low-code/no-code business solutions using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven) and Power Automate to enhance efficiency and user experience.
  • Develop custom automations, workflows, and integrations leveraging SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and other M365 services.
  • Utilize scripting and API capabilities (PowerShell, JSON, Graph API) for advanced automation and solution enhancements.
  • Conduct testing and quality assurance for solutions, ensuring they meet functional and security requirements before deployment.
  • Maintain awareness of the Microsoft 365 roadmap to ensure solutions align with best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure solutions are effectively integrated into the USNH M365 environment

Administration, Maintenance, and Governance (30%)

  • Support the backend administration and governance of SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Power Platform environments.
  • Assist in modernizing and maintaining enterprise SharePoint environments, working closely with Senior SharePoint admin, including regular maintenance, data reduction and cleanup initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain custom solutions, ensuring optimal performance, troubleshooting issues, and reporting outages as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Tenant team, Identity Management Group, Cybersecurity team, and support groups to maintain compliance with USNH governance standards.
  • Administer the Power Platform using the Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE), ensuring effective governance, monitoring, and adoption of best practices.
  • Recommend, script, and implement technical procedures and produce reports to support and monitor M365 system maintenance and governance. Provide insights and recommendations to improve system efficiency, automation, and long-term maintainability.
  • M365 service health monitoring and awareness.

Stakeholder Collaboration and End User Support (20%)

  • In concert with Project lead, engage with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to assess business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Adhere to established project deadlines, updating tasks and participate in regular stakeholder meetings to provide progress updates.
  • Serve as a technical consultant for departments, providing recommendations on SharePoint, Power Platform, and Teams solutions.
  • Assist with support tickets related to M365 tools, automation issues, attend technical office hours, and conduct general troubleshooting.
  • Participate in cross-functional team discussions, contributing expertise on modernization and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity throughout the project lifecycle.

Documentation and User Enablement (15%)

  • Develop and maintain clear documentation for solutions, processes, governance policies, and best practices.
  • Maintain SOPs for existing processes and solutions to ensure consistency and knowledge retention.
  • Assist in creating end-user guides, FAQs, and training materials to support the adoption of M365 solutions.
  • Deliver or contribute to occasional workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, or one-on-one training to ensure effective use of implemented solutions.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with new features and best practices in Microsoft technologies.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in information technology field, Associate’s and six years, or combination of education and experience equal to eight years.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (such as PowerShell, JSON, or Graph API) and a demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 services (e.g., SharePoint, Power Platform, Teams, OneDrive, MS Apps) to address business challenges and an understanding of their role in enterprise environments
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend the best M365 tool for a given process, balancing factors such as security, automation, collaboration, and usability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze business needs, think critically, and develop creative solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and for creating appropriate process documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, adapting to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to identify and seek assistance when encountering complex issues or roadblocks, ensuring timely resolution and project continuity.
  • Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively while remote, including remote customer support.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in Microsoft technologies and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience with any system administration or employing solutions with Microsoft tools, such as Power Platform, SharePoint, PowerBI or other M365 applications, with a willingness to learn and apply best practices.
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and logic-based automation tools (PowerFx, SPFx, or other) and exposure to versioning tools (GitLab/GitHub) is beneficial.
  • Exposure to PnP provisioning, or automation techniques for SharePoint and M365 services, with an ability to learn and adapt existing scripts is desired.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment preferred.
  • Awareness of security, compliance, and governance best practices within Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Knowledge of the Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) model and best practices for governance, security, and administration.
  • Interest in obtaining Microsoft Certifications (such as PL-100, PL-200, MS-600, or equivalent).

Salary range is 60-65k and is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
