Position overview
Assistant Professor Dr. Dora Wang’s Research Group at the University of New Hampshire (US), is recruiting 1-2 PhD students in plant molecular biology, plant genetics and biotechnology, or related field. Students will work on projects aiming at understanding the physiological, genetic and molecular basis of fruit ripening.
Skills required: basis and advanced molecular biology technologies, including gene cloning, CRISPR/Cas-based gene editing, plant transformation, physiological and molecular phenotyping of mutants, RT-QPCR, and omics techniques. Microscopic techniques such as confocal microscope, electron microscopy are preferred.
Start Date: Negotiable
Funding: Successful candidates will receive full scholarships covering tuition fees and living expenses.

Requirements:
A Master’s degree in plant molecular biology, plant biotechnology, plant genetics and genomics or related field.
Passion for research and innovative problem-solving.

Dr. Wang’s research focuses on understanding the physiological, genetic and molecular basis of fruit ripening and plant response to environmental stresses, and developing novel crops with desirable traits using advanced molecular breeding strategies including CRISPR technologies. Dr. Wang’s laboratory has made original scientific contributions of major significance in the field of fruit biology, particularly in understanding the genetic and molecular basis of fruit ripening. Dr. Wang has published around 30 papers in high quality journals, including Nature Biotechnology; Plant Physiology, Trends in Plant Science, which have gathered over 1500 citations. Dr. Wang serves as an associate editor, guest editor, and reviewer for more than 10 scientific journals.
