Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Professional to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Registered Nurse on our Night Shift, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to assigned patients while promoting a positive work environment and quality patient care.
About This Role
- You will work within the nursing process to deliver safe and effective care to patients across various age groups, including Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
- You will serve as a role model to promote a culture of safety, quality, and respect among your colleagues.
- You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and thorough patient medical records, ensuring that necessary information is documented and communicated effectively.
- You will participate in orientation and assume precepting responsibilities upon successful completion of preceptor training.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, documenting and communicating clinical findings.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required.
Patient Safety and Quality
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning current policies and processes.
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.
Care Planning and Collaboration
- Work in collaboration with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age-specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
