New Mexico PBS/KNME-TV, is seeking a manager to lead our broadcast transmissions team.
The Broadcast Transmission Services (aka RF Transmission) Team provides the core services that enables New Mexico PBS/KNME-TV to broadcast 5 streams of programming (including an exclusive children's programming channel) to over 800,000 New Mexicans on a 24/7/365 basis.
Under the supervision of the Director of Broadcast Operations, the manager of this team is primarily responsible for the maintenance and operations of the primary transmitter and 35 translator sites across northern and western New Mexico.
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Supervise the lead television transmission operations technicians, and ensure that all applicable safety requirements are met.
- Oversee the compliance with FCC regulations that govern disruption in communications, signal interference, emergency alert system equipment operational readiness, compliance with safety regulations governing tower maintenance procedures, and quality of broadcasting signal.
- Provide leadership to this team by maintaining current knowledge of laws, regulations television broadcast technical requirements and equipment.
- Required to be available in the event of equipment malfunction requiring emergency repairs.

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: Society for Broadcast Engineers (SBE) certification as a Certified Broadcast Technologist (CBTE) or equivalent obtained within 12 months of hire.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- 10 years of directly related experience to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred
- Previously experience with a public broadcasting television station strongly preferred
- SBE Certified
- RF Safety Certification
- Comtrain Tower Rescue Certification
- Ubiquity Networking Certification
