Position Summary |
The University of New Mexico’s Department of Pathology seeks three highlymotivated General Surgical Pathologists at all academic ranks(Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) on the Clinician Educator track. We are hiring in all subspecialties toaccommodate a university-wide workforce expansion. These subspecialties include Breast Pathology,Cytology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Genitourinary Pathology, GYN Pathology,Head/Neck Pathology, Bone/Soft Tissue Pathology, and Lung/Thoracic Pathology. Preference will be given to applicants willingto cover cytopathology, though this is negotiable for highly qualifiedapplicants.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is located at the University of New Mexico Hospital(UNMH), New Mexico's only Academic Medical Center and Level-1 TraumaCenter. The Surgical Pathology Divisionis actively involved in cutting-edge research through collaborations with the Departmentof Pathology, the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Human Tissue Repository,the TriCore Research Institute, and the NIH-funded Clinical TranslationalScience Center. In addition, research opportunities in ArtificialIntelligence (AI) are available through a partnership with Indica Labs(HALO AI) located in Corrales, NM. The UNM Division of Anatomic Pathology provides a competitiveschedule at competitive pay and is located in a beautiful region ideal for anactive lifestyle (world class skiing, fly-fishing, hiking, and biking). The residency program encompasses 16positions, and the department has active fellowship programs in generalsurgical pathology with the option of independent sign-out, cytopathology withtraining in ultrasound-guided FNAs, forensic pathology, hematopathology,molecular genetic pathology, and transfusion medicine. Faculty are encouraged to developprofessionally in a collaborative environment with opportunities for innovativeresearch and teaching.
