What are the responsibilities and job description for the Open Rank in Orthopaedic Trauma position at University of New Mexico?
The successful candidate will join other faculty in the Division of Trauma Surgery at both the Sandoval Regional Medical Center and the University of New Mexico Hospital. This position will be in a busy clinical setting and include Orthopaedic resident and fellow, and medical student education. UNMH is the state’s only Level I Trauma Center, and serves a population of roughly 2,000,000 people. The Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at UNMH provides compassionate and comprehensive care to the people of New Mexico and surrounding areas with musculoskeletal conditions. We are home to a large indigenous population, and treat patients from urban, rural and all levels of socioeconomic status.
Consideration will be given to candidates currently matched into an out of state accredited 12-month orthopaedic trauma fellowship that will participate in weekly resident/fellow education via remote participation. Appointment will be commensurate with experience and academic achievement. The ideal candidate will have practice interests in treatment of complex orthopaedic trauma including pelvis fractures, periarticular fracture, non-union and malunion pathology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery by date of hire.
- Been accepted into an accredited 12-month away orthopaedic trauma fellowship program.
- Must be able to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the State of New Mexico.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scheduled or completed an accredited away Orthopaedic trauma fellowship.
- Interest in treatment of complex orthopaedic trauma including pelvis fractures, periarticular fracture, non-union and malunion pathology.
