What are the responsibilities and job description for the Open Rank of Neurology - Neuromuscular Faculty position at University of New Mexico?
UNM Neurology seeks a Neuromuscular Faculty to join the Neurology team. The position will be part of a team of faculty in providing quality patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting at UNM Hospital.
This position will participate in the assessment and treatment of neuromuscular disorders in our Clinical Neuroscience Center including: carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, radiculopathy, muscle disease, ALS, muscular dystrophy, OPMD, and myasthenia gravis. The ALS and MDA clinics are certified as Care Centers by their national organizations.
Clinical responsibilities include direct patient care in a busy outpatient clinical setting, as well as inpatient and consult attending supervision of residents, fellows and medical students and midlevel providers. Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. Based on qualifications leadership opportunities may be available.
UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only NAEC level 4 epilepsy center, and ALS / MDA center and comprehensive movement disorder center in the State. The UNM Neurology Department has 35 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD degree or equivalent
- Board certified/eligible in neurology
- Completed adult neurology residency training prior to start date
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of New Mexico
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a neuromuscular medicine/EMG fellowship prior to start date
- 2-3 years of clinical experience managing neurology patients
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
