What are the responsibilities and job description for the Open Rank of Pediatric Hospitalist position at University of New Mexico?
The Pediatric Hospitalist Group staffs the General Pediatric Unit with 34 beds, Pediatric Subspecialty Care Unit with 20 beds, and Carrie Tingley Rehabilitation Unit with 15 beds. The care includes general pediatric inpatient care, consultation to subspecialty providers, sedation services, and PICC line placement. A multidisciplinary team and subspecialty providers support the Pediatric Hospitalist physicians. Resident physicians and medical students work with the Pediatric Hospitalists on the majority of our medical teams. We serve a diverse population in metropolitan and rural communities of New Mexico as well as neighboring states. We are looking for people who are dedicated to general inpatient pediatric care with a commitment to teaching.
New Mexico offers excellent weather and outdoor recreation with multiple National Forests and State Parks. Albuquerque rests at the base of the Sandia Mountains and is located 45 minutes from Santa Fe. Albuquerque also hosts the International Balloon Fiesta which is the largest gathering of hot air balloons in the world. The Land of Enchantment is one of the most beautiful places to live in the Southwest.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Able to obtain medical licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico.
- Must have an MD, DO, or equivalent by time of hire.
- BC/BE in General Pediatrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pediatric acute care medicine.
- Experience in pediatric inpatient care.
- Experience teaching house staff and medical students.
- Experience in quality improvement, research, or scholarly work.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
