What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Recruit position at University of New Mexico?
Develops critical job-related knowledge and skills while enrolled in law enforcement academy. Applies academy training by assisting in the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws, and ensures compliance with university policies. Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment.
Assists in the investigation and documentation of crimes/incidents and documentation and preservation of evidence. Receives training in the preparation and provision of legal testimony. May be assigned to any shift; may perform campus patrol or may serve as substation, victim/witness assistance, or crime prevention officer.

- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at date of hire.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
- Must successfully graduate from an accredited law enforcement academy and receive Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Certified Law Enforcement Officer within 12 months of date of hire.
High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
