What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post Doctoral Fellow in Mathematics and Statistics position at University of New Mexico?
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico seeks a postdoctoral fellow with research experience in applied topology, additional experience in topological data analysis preferred. This position will be in-person at the University of New Mexico. This appointment may be renewed for additional periods after one year as long as grant funding is available.
This position will require you to conduct a portion of your research on topological data analysis related to neuroscience. You will be working with scientists from other STEM departments at UNM, with mentorship guidance on cross-discipline collaboration. Additionally, you will have time to pursue your own research interests related to applied topology. Your office space will be at UNM and your supervisor will be Prof. Sarah Percival.
This position has no teaching responsibilities, but there is an opportunity to teach if desired. The preferred starting date is in August 2025. Review of applications will commence on January 31, 2025, but applications will be considered until the position is filled.

Required Qualifications
- A PhD in mathematics or a related field by the start date.
- Proven record of discovery in mathematics.
- Experience with applied topology.

- Experience using Python for topological data analysis.
- Experience in interdisciplinary research.
