Position Summary

The UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Community Behavioral Health (CBH) is seeking a Program Specialistwith program evaluation experience to support the Principal Investigator andthe Program Manager in providing day-to-day oversight, including establishing, leading,and supporting communications with provider agency staff across New Mexico;scheduling and providing evaluation trainings and technical assistance; andfacilitating and coordinating meeting logistics. This position will beresponsible for program implementation and will serve as a key project liaisonwith community agencies and the State of New Mexico to evaluate community-basedprograms across the state. This involves working with various state agenciesand stakeholders to ensure the program is aligned with state goals, addressingcommunity needs, and using data-driven approaches to improve outcomes. Thisposition will assist in developing appropriate responses and strategies forcommunicating with provider agencies when challenges arise around fulfilling evaluationobligations and responsibilities. This role will guide the interpretation ofdata and will conduct preliminary analysis, identify the focus of datapresentations, and dissemination efforts.

Job Summary:

This position will work with andsupport a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to evaluateshelter programs in New Mexico. While the role involves engaging with communitypartners, it does not involve working directly with patients or individuals.The Program Specialist will focus on data collection, analysis, and qualityimprovement objectives using de-identified data only. This position does notinclude manuscript writing or academic publications.

Specific dutiesinclude:

  • Manage and maintain data collection systems (e.g., Qualtrics or other databases) to support program implementation and evaluation, ensuring compliance with behavioral health program evaluation requirements.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to provider agencies on data collection processes, including proper data entry in Qualtrics and ensuring the correct use of unique identifiers to maintain data accuracy and integrity. Trainings may be scheduled regularly or as needed to meet program goals. Additionally, provide administrative and logistical support to senior leadership as required.
  • Assist with project oversight, including meeting contract obligations ensuring adherence to due dates.
  • Facilitate meetings with state agencies and stakeholders, including the preparation of agendas and follow-up on action items, in addition to facilitating outreach efforts and related activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between provider agencies, stakeholders, and state partners, ensuring that evaluation findings are communicated effectively.
  • Assist in continuous quality improvement processes to improve program outcomes based on data analysis.
  • Develop, write, edit, and present program reports and evaluations to internal team and stakeholders, incorporating cleaned and analyzed data, including demographic insights, to support informed decision-making.

The qualifiedcandidate should have:

  • Proficiency using Microsoft office suite including (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Experience using program management tools such as Smartsheet and survey platforms such as Qualtrics and Redcap.
  • Time management skills to ensure timely progress and adherence to projects’ timelines and the ability to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Attention to details, ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Holistic perspective and detail orientation, the ability to see the big picture and attend to smaller details; resourcefulness, responsiveness, and flexibility; superb organizational and communication/ relationship building skills. Integrity and professionalism; ability to work well with diverse groups, including community partners, team members, and stakeholders.
  • A collaborative nature to work with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations.

This position also requires a great deal of both independent and teamwork and may include limited in-state travel.
This is a full-time, term, benefits eligible position. We expect funding for this project to continue.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

* An advanced degree in a behavioral or public health related field
* Experience with program implementation, research, and evaluation services
* Extensive experience interviewing young adults with severe mental illness and their families; prior experience with behavioral health Systems of Care
* Experience providing extensive outreach and training to local and state partners
* Extensive experience with database management, synthesis, and summarization across many platforms
* Experience with writing state and federal reports
