Position Summary

PLEASENOTE: This position is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch, Fine Arts, Humanities & SocialSciences Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-faceand/or develop lower division courses (1000/2000 level) in the Spring, Summer,and Fall 2025 semesters in the following anticipated potential disciplines:

- AMST1150 (Introduction to Southwest Studies)
- CCST 2110 (Introduction to Chicana andChicano Studies)
- CLST 1110 (Greek Mythology)
- CLST 2110 (Greek Civilization)
- CLST 2120 (Roman Civilization)
- GEOG 1175 (World Regional Geography)
- INTS 1101 (Introduction to InternationalStudies)
- LTAM 1111 (Latin American Film)
- MLNG 1110 (Approaches to Languages andCultures)
- NATV 1150 (Introduction to Native AmericanStudies)
- PHIL 1115 (Introduction to Philosophy)
- PHIL 1120 (Logic, Reasoning, and CriticalThinking)
- RELG 1110 (Introduction to World Religions)
-RELG 1550 (Religion, Health and Medicine)

The University of New Mexico established branchcolleges to provide the highest quality of education for students pursuingpost-secondary education at different locations throughout the state. Branchcolleges respond specifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgroundsof their respective communities by offering community education programs,career and technical education including certificate and associate degreeprograms, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper division entryinto colleges and universities.

The Fine Arts, Humanities& Sciences Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking qualified temporarypart-time faculty members to teach lower division classes in various courses ortopics as specified above. UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for allaspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meetingface-to-face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings orweekends, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments,reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by thedivision chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.


Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials andcredit hour course loads, as follows:

Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours Collegeteaching $1,056.70
Master’s Degree, plus 12 hours Collegeteaching $1,017.60
Master’s Degree, less than 12 hours Collegeteaching $1,017.60

May 31, 2025 for Fall 2025 Semesters

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree inAmerican Studies, Chicana/Chicano Studies, Classics, Geography, InternationalStudies, Latin American Studies, Liberal Arts, Linguistics, Native AmericanStudies, Philosophy, Religion, or a related field; or a Master’s degree and 18graduate credit hours in a discipline listed above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in American Studies, Chicana/Chicano Studies, Classics, Geography, International Studies, Latin American Studies, Liberal Arts, Linguistics, Native American Studies, Philosophy, Religion, or a related field.
  • College-level teaching.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
