What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temp Parttime Faculty - Early Childhood Education Instructor position at University of New Mexico?
The UNM-Taos Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applicants to apply for a Temporary Part-Time Faculty (Adjunct) member to teach the following course for Summer 2025. This posting is primarily for Remote Synchronous (teaching online to students real time) instruction.
These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements. The specific course is as follows:
EDUC 1120 Introduction to Education
This course is designed as a bridge between your role as a student and as a professional in the world of education. You will reflect on your work as an Early Experience Student, and will gain knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will prepare you to be a professional in the field of education.
Catalog Description: An exploration of contemporary issues around diversity, culture, and education in New Mexico. The course is of special interest to students considering a teaching career. Projects in schools and/or community sites are part of requirements.
The base salary is $1,017.60 to $1,100.63 per credit hour depending on successful candidates' qualifications. This posting is for both face to face and remote delivery of courses.
- Master's degree in Elementary or Secondary education or a subfield of education such as Educational Leadership or an area of concentration such as language, mathematics and social studies. Applicant must have at least completed a bachelor's in education or secondary with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in education or a subfield.
- At least 5 years hands-on teaching experience in either an elementary or secondary school.
- Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly a community college.
- Demonstrated experience in remote delivery of instruction.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Taught more than 5 years in a classroom with children or youth or took on a leadership role within a school setting, such as, but not limited to a literacy coach or assistant principal.
