What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temp Parttime Faculty - Woodworking position at University of New Mexico?
UNM-Taos' Construction Department invites applicants living in New Mexico to apply for Temporary Part time Faculty positions (Adjunct) to teach a lower division course in Woodworking. These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements.
Courses could potentially include the following:
- WOOD1110 - Introduction to the Fine Art of Woodworking (3)
- WOOD1310 - Furniture Design (3)
- WOOD1710 - Introduction to Woodcarving (3)
- CNST1240 - Cabinet Making (3)
- WOOD2110 - Doors, Drawers, and Hardware for Furniture (3)
Additional learning objectives include estimating material costs, wood selection, carving, joinery and steam bend techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
To teach or develop courses in the field or subfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met in these ways:
- A Bachelor's Degree and/or significant professional experience in fine woodworking.
- A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the woodworking or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly a community college.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
