What are the responsibilities and job description for the TPT - English (FA 2024-SU 2025) position at University of New Mexico?
The Humanities Division at UNM-Valencia anticipates hiring a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member to teach 1-2 English courses at the 1000-2000 college level in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and/or Summer 2025. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offerings. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of The University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical programs, Adult Education, and Dual Credit courses to high schools in Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester. UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for its workplace policies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in English or related field
- One-year English teaching experience at the post-secondary level
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or MFA in English or related field
- One-year English teaching experience at a community college
- One year teaching experience using Canvas
- Excellence in teaching (documented via student or supervisor evaluations)
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
