Description
Environmental Services Specialists are responsible for performing custodial duties and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the residence halls and academic buildings are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.
Essential Job Duties
- Clean assigned buildings / spaces, which includes, but is not limited to, emptying trash cans, dusting surfaces, maintaining floors (such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing, buffing, shampooing rugs), deep cleaning (such as residence hall rooms between periods of occupancy, washing walls, etc.), cleaning bathrooms, and cleaning kitchens and laundry rooms in residence halls;
- Clean beyond assigned buildings / spaces for special events as needed, which includes, but is not limited to campus events (such as plays, banquets and meetings), parties and weddings, athletic events (fields, courts etc.) summer camps;
- Sweep and blow leaves out of doorways to limit the amount of leaves entering the assigned building;
- Fill in for other environmental services specialists when needed (usually requires completing one's own work duties in addition to fill-in work);
- Deliver supplies to various locations on campus for the environmental services department (this duty is assigned to some Environmental Services Specialist I employees);
- Provide maintenance assistance when needed such as assisting maintenance employees with their work, and complete small maintenance tasks if possible (such as unclogging toilets);
- Report maintenance issues and security problems to appropriate offices on campus;
- Solve problems, such as letting people into offices / rooms when they forget or lose their keys;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma / equivalent is preferred.
