Description

This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, updating, troubleshooting, and maintenance of lab and classroom instructional technology hardware, software, and peripherals for the main campus and satellite sites. Additional responsibilities include providing training and technical support for students, faculty, and staff; access to instructional technology resources; and acting as additional support for IT support specialists.

Essential Job Duties

  • Interface with various entities to define and meet lab / classroom technical requirements throughout all phases of development;
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain various educational and business applications;
  • Install, upgrade, and support, to the end-user, various educational and business applications used in a LAN environment;
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain UNA-owned devices utilizing mobile device management (MDM) software;
  • Assist A / V and network team to design, install, configure, and maintain A / V components for all lab / classroom locations;
  • Diagnose and solve hardware and OS / software issues on end-user and server-based systems;
  • Responsible for the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) topology used in labs and classrooms, including setup, configuration, and maintenance;
  • Establish and maintain technical documentation and diagnostic software libraries of installed system and network configurations and hardware components;
  • Read literature, participate in conferences, and perform other related activities in order to understand the leading-edge developments in IT-related fields;
  • Responsible for creating and deploying images to computers in labs / classrooms and installing client software for access to network application servers;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES :

  • Assist IT support specialists and other ITS personnel, as needed;
  • Monitor and manage licensing, configuration, and utilization of various campus software applications;
  • Design, create, implement, and maintain ITS inventory database;
  • Coordinate with all areas within ITS to create / manage documentation, instructions, and training materials for all technical-related documentation;
  • Assist with marketing programs and services to the campus community;
  • Work with vendors, when necessary, to retrieve software / hardware renewals and / or upgrade price quotes;
  • Represent the department and university at a variety of on-campus meetings or off-campus technical conferences;
  • Adjustment of hours involving evening and / or weekend work may be required.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree plus three years of related experience required;
  • Completion of a high school diploma / equivalent plus five years of experience in a related field required.
  • LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS :

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Ability to install and maintain the various software components of a LAN;
  • Knowledge of mobile device management software and deployment techniques as well as general A / V design, installation, and components;
  • A basic understanding of network communication protocols and topologies and file storage capabilities within a LAN & WAN architecture;
  • An understanding of software and computer hardware compatibility issues within a LAN architecture;
  • Basic knowledge of virtualized infrastructures and technology as well as a basic understanding of PC installation, configuration, and support within a LAN environment;
  • Strong research skills to gather and use information effectively;
  • Ability to use Microsoft and Apple operating systems, associated applications, and work order management systems;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively;
  • Self-motivated and able to complete projects independently;
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan, and execute brand new projects by establishing processes, rules, and procedures from inception to implementation;
  • Ability to provide non-traditional solutions to complex issues;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, customer service skills, troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to assist others;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, and diagram form;

    UNA provides all eligible employees with basic life insurance at no cost to the employee. The basic life coverage level is 1.5 times the covered employee's annual base salary with a maximum benefit of $400,000. Included with your basic life coverage is Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at 3 times the covered employee's annual salary. The provider for this coverage is

    As a member of the , eligible employees have life benefits available through the TRS. Also, for eligible active employees, a death benefit of the payment of accrued sick leave is paid to the employee's beneficiary by the University.

    This coverage provides benefits after a 90-day period of disability. The monthly benefit is 60% of the covered employee's monthly base salary not to exceed $10,000 per month.     Paid Time Off

  • Annual leave is accrued for each hour worked. During the first 2 years of employment, the accrual is 10 workdays. After completion of 2 years of continuous service, eligible employees are entitled to 12 days of annual leave and, for each additional year of service, annual leave is increased by one day per year to a maximum of 20 days after 10 years.
  • Full-time regular staff members are entitled to 96 work hours (12 workdays) of sick leave each year at the employee's regular rate of pay regardless of length of service.
