Description
This position oversees library information and discovery systems, as well as other specialized library systems, in a highly-collaborative environment. Primary responsibilities include managing, configuring, maintaining, implementing, and troubleshooting the library's systems and website to ensure optimal performance, as well as serving as the primary liaison to technology vendors and the campus IT department. This role works within a highly collaborative environment and requires the ability to communicate well with library staff to enhance and improve library technology, and to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Strong project management skills and a deep understanding of library technology requirements and patron needs are essential, as is the ability to identify opportunities for improvement. Success in this role includes a commitment to innovation, adaptability, effective problem-solving, and excellent communication skills. Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM. During major installations or special projects, hours may vary to meet organizational needs.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage and support the primary library information and discovery systems, such as the integrated library system (ILS) and authentication software, ensuring their effective operation within a collaborative environment.
- Provide broad support for all aspects of other systems, software, applications, tools, and technology used by the library, ensuring their optimal performance.
- Manage and maintain the library's web presence, ensuring accessibility, usability, and up-to-date content that effectively supports library services and user needs.
- Manage storage and long-term preservation of digital collections.
- Facilitate clear, timely communication and efficiently resolve issues, thereby providing high-quality support to library staff, users, and the university community.
- Maintain a deep understanding of library technology requirements and patron needs, identifying and recommending, as appropriate, opportunities for improvement to enhance user services through research, testing, development and implementation.
- Serve as the primary liaison to technology vendors and the campus IT department, coordinating efforts to support and enhance library technologies.
- Create custom queries and reports using MySQL or other comparable tools to support analytics, metadata maintenance, and special projects.
- Provide training and updates, as needed, to library staff to ensure efficient and effective use of library systems, software, and other technology tools.
- Develop and document internal procedures and processes.
- Participate in user groups and communities to stay informed about products and to aid in the management and support of library systems.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

UNA provides all eligible employees with basic life insurance at no cost to the employee. The basic life coverage level is 1.5 times the covered employee's annual base salary with a maximum benefit of $400,000. Included with your basic life coverage is Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at 3 times the covered employee's annual salary. The provider for this coverage is As a member of the , eligible employees have life benefits available through the TRS. Also, for eligible active employees, a death benefit of the payment of accrued sick leave is paid to the employee's beneficiary by the University.
