University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Principal Gifts (PG) team is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to manage a range of communications and engagement processes to enhance University Development’s interactions with principal gift prospects and donors. This position plays a crucial role in shaping and coordinating communications and donor engagement processes for the Chancellor’s and Vice Chancellor of Development’s pan-university PG-related development work.
This position coordinates Chancellor development communications processes for OneCarolina, including donor meeting briefings, event briefings, and thank you notes, serving as liaison to the Chancellor’s team for these deliverables. This includes initiating and managing briefing and thank you note timelines, drafting and editing needed materials, and creating Chancellor interactions in Davie.
Together with the PG Director of Development, this position will manage Principal Gift engagement work processes, including the development and support of curated opportunities for prospects and supporting PG event planning. This may include the developing invitation lists, attendance and event logistics, strategic program development, preparation of materials, and event follow up.
The successful candidate must have strong process management skills, analytical ability, and a commitment to advancing the university’s philanthropic goals. Substantive experience conducting research, compiling data, and collaborating with subject matter experts to support development work is required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to compose and edit materials in alignment with organizational style and to convey information clearly and effectively. Excellent organizational skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Proven record of managing projects and initiatives, particularly communications processes and donor engagement efforts. Proficiency in database management and data analysis tools. Experience with fundraising software, including DAVIE or similar platforms. Experience in proactively identifying challenges and developing effective solutions. Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to take initiative and work independently. Proven ability to interact effectively with university leadership and a diverse donor population, addressing questions and resolving problems. Strong interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with individuals with a broad range of personal styles.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in project management, preferably within higher education or nonprofit development. Background in donor engagement and stewardship, ensuring timely engagement with stakeholders. Experience in event planning and donor engagement.
