Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Manages preventive maintenance
Hires and supervises maintenance employees
Plans and organizes technician tasks
Responds to maintenance requests
Controls and monitors inventory
Sets the shift schedules and assignments
Maintains or ensures that all equipment is maintained
Assists in coordinating any University, state, or other inspections and maintain all records
Submits recommendations for new equipment as needed to upgrade the facility
Anticipates safety issues and takes proactive steps to maximize safe operations and measure the effectiveness of action. Reports or corrects unsafe working conditions
Minimum Experience / Education :
Required Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in trade(s) areas assigned; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications :
Graduation from a technical college with a major in air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology, industrial maintenance technology or mechanical engineering technology and a minimum of three years progressive experience in facility maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience :
Two or more years of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with one or more assigned trades, including two years of contributing-level work in at least one building trade; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience in painting, plastering, plumbing, maintenance, and repair.
Ability to use and care for mechanical and power hand tools including, but not limited to, saws (hand, band, radial, table, and miter), drills and drill presses, sanders, pipe threaders, paint applicators, ladders, lifts, planes, and routers.
Proficient computer skills (MS Office suite, email, mainframe applications).
Ability to troubleshoot plumbing systems, as well as use tools necessary to prepare work surfaces for paint and other finishes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of symbols and principles involved in plans, blueprints, and drawings.
Understands and complies with University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements and reading safety manuals.
Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (Fire Panel, BAS , etc)
