Position Summary
The UNC Division of Nephrology and Hypertension within the Department of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position with a focus on general nephrology and palliative care. Clinical opportunities include inpatient and outpatient general nephrology, inpatient and outpatient palliative care, and combined nephrology-palliative care.

Candidates must hold an M.D. degree and be board-certified/board-eligible in Nephrology and Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. The selected faculty member will play a pivotal role in outpatient dialysis and general nephrology clinics, as well as inpatient nephrology services. Responsibilities will include overseeing and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in the comprehensive management of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. They will provide supervision for procedures such as dialysis catheter placement, kidney biopsy, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous dialysis procedures.

In addition to nephrology-focused clinical care, the selected candidate will provide palliative care-focused services including inpatient and outpatient palliative and hospice care. The selected faculty member will also have the opportunity to provide care to individuals requiring both nephrology and palliative care expertise and will help build and lead a growing joint nephrology palliative care program.

This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate expertise across nephrology and palliative care, contributing to both patient care and the academic mission of UNC's Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Candidates must hold an M.D. degree and be board-certified/board-eligible in Nephrology and Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Care of patients with chronic kidney disease and palliative care, especially those with end-stage renal disease. Inpatient and emergency room nephrology consultation, including hemodialysis and continuous dialysis procedures.
